  • Successfully fundraised for and delivered a pilot project to improve the governance of BME organisations on behalf of Camden Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Alliance

Interim Management

Interim Director: West Euston Partnership, London

Freelance contract supporting the trustees of the new West Euston Partnership Charity in managing change to an independent charity responsible for the direct management of staff and funds
  • Supported and advised the Charity to set up effective governance of the organisation through an understanding of policies and procedures, in particular the financial and human resources policies
  • Reviewed key documents, Action Plans, Fundraising strategy, Business Plans and other documents in order to work with partners to agree on priorities and options for the future development of the charity
  • Supported the recruitment process for the new staff positions of Director, Monitoring and Partnership Coordinator and Administrator
  • Advised and enabled the setting up of sound accounting systems, working closely with the Board of Trustees and sub-committees
  • Worked with Healthy Community project partners, building on the existing partnership arrangements to review monitoring and partnership arrangements for the 3 year programme of Lottery funded work

Interim Chief Executive: Camden Training Network, London

Freelance contract providing strategic and operational responsibility for a local infrastructure organisation representing education and training providers in Camden

  • Represented interests of local training providers and voluntary organisations on following local authority strategic policy groups: Local Area Agreement (LAA) Employment and Training Group; Camden Working Strategy Group
  • Managed a number of funding streams including Local Authority, London Development Agency and the Learning Skills Council
  • Managed and monitored the delivery of projects, implemented effective performance management framework, reviewed performance targets and took suitable corrective action where targets and outputs were not met to meet the expectations of partners and funders
  • Implemented effective financial procedures and systems, which included the regular monitoring and control of income and expenditure to ensure the financial stability and sustainability of the organisation
  • Managed and motivated the staff team during a period of organisational change and uncertainty and managed staff reorganisation, including reviewing contracts and conditions for the staff team

Freelance contract provided strategic and operational responsibility for a local infrastructure organisation representing BME communities in Camden
  • Represented the interests of local BME communities and groups on the following local authority strategic policy groups: Race Hate and Race Crime Forum; Equality Stakeholder Group; BME Consultative Forum, as well as the Third Party Reporting Project and Camden ChangeUp steering group
  • Managed a number of funding streams including Local Authority and Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF)
  • Development of specific policies to assist in the organisational development and good governance of the organisation

Project management

  • Project managed the successful Park Royal Partnership Community Action Day enabling over 125 company volunteers to contribute their time to community organisations in West London
  • Project managed a wide range of funding streams including Big Lottery, Local Authority, London Developent Agency (LDA), the Learning Skills Council (LSC), London Councils and Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF)
  • Project managed and monitored the delivery of range of projects, implemented effective project management systems, reviewed key performance targets and took suitable corrective action where targets and outputs were not met to meet the expectations of partners and funders
  • Monitored contract performance through monthly meetings with training providers, providing advice to ensure successfully delivery of ESF projects within ESF guidelines
  • Ensured contractors and training providers completed Co-financing monitoring returns to timescale and accuracy for LSC systems, European funding and audit requirements
